**LUKE'S FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH CLAUDE AND ELLEN**

setting:  on the street in front of Claude's apartment building.
Claude and Ellen are about to go in.  There's a pile of boxes and the like in front of the
building, and a guitar is on top.

Claude picks it up and begins to strum.

Luke (Pat Briggs) then walks out of the door.  Claude sees him.

CLAUDE:  Oh, sorry.

LUKE:  Well at least you didn't steal it.

CLAUDE:  It's so nice.

LUKE:  Not when I play it.

Luke then pics up his large futon.

CLAUDE:  Well, uh... do you need some help there?

LUKE:  Great, if you grab that end.

Proceeding to go inside with the futon.

CLAUDE:  So what floor are you moving to?

LUKE:  First.

CLAUDE:  I live on the fourth.

CLAUDE:  So is this your bed?

LUKE:  It's a futon.  It goes on the floor. You can do all sorts of fun stuff without falling
off.

Claude looks embarrassed.

They finish carrying the futon.

LUKE:  Thanks.  I'm Luke.

CLAUDE:  Hi, I'm Claude.

ELLEN:  (exasperated)  I thought you wanted to rehearse.

CLAUDE:  We have to go.  Um... here...

She hands him her bag of candy.

CLAUDE:  It's just some candy, if you want it. If we keep on eating it... ya know...

Luke takes the bag.

LUKE:  It's hard to stop when it feels so good.

CLAUDE:  Well, bye.

LUKE:  See ya around, muscles.
