**TALKING ON STOOP**

setting:  on stairs in front of Luke and Claude's apartment building.
Claude comes in from a night out and sees Luke on the stairs smoking.

LUKE:  How's it going?

LUKE:  It's about a hundred degrees in my apartment.  I forgot to buy a fan.

CLAUDE:  We have an extra one.  I mean, if you want to borrow it.

LUKE:  Hmm... it's ok, i'm going to get one tommorow.  Thanks, though.

LUKE:  Does your friend live in this building too?

CLAUDE:  Her parents live across the park.  She kinda... stays here most of the time, though.

LUKE:  That's nice.  So you two are kinda like sisters.

CLAUDE:  Heh, we could never be sisters.

LUKE:  Why not?

CLAUDE:  Because she's my best friend.
