Just Who the Hell is PSYCHOTICA?

They landed a record deal before they'd even played their first gig. Though an unkown band, they're already in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. Larger than life, greater than death, and a lot more fun than taxes, they're known as Psychotica, and they've just signed a deal with Ventrue Entertainment/American Recordings.

Psychotica is the brainchild of lead singer Patrick Briggs, a mercurial, Iggy-meets-Ziggy performer, who feels that today's rock 'n' roll scene "has become so generic. I want to do something to bring back the fabulousness of rock."

Psychotica came together for its first rehearsal just one year ago, its six members having emerged from the uninhibited downtown New York club scene. Ventrue Entertainment's amanda Scheer-Demme happened to be at the rehearsal space and was so knocked out by what she heard, she began talking seriously that night about offering the band a recording contract.

Asked to describe Psychotica's sound, Briggs offers, "We're totally urban New York." Rougly translated, this means that Psychotica captures the unique high-life meets low-life vibe of that city, making glamorous, dramatic-sounding music with a state-fo-the-art glimmer, melodic songs spiked with vocal s that're impassioned, at times operatic. But make no mistake -- with their relentless guitars-and-drums assault, highlighted by soaring axe riffs, Psychotica play the three most powerful words in the world -- Rock 'n' Roll.

"America is totally ready for something like Psychotica," he says confidently. "They want to see entertainment brought back into the entertainment business."

Psychotica's debut release will be out this summer.

Lilpat's notes: This was on a bright orange piece of paper. The top left corner had a picture that said "JUST WHO THE HELL IS PSYCHOTICA??" and psychotica was in ragged type-writer font. The number of Steven Cohen was blocked out on this website to protect it. There was an American records logo on the bottom of the page.
